Update on our Ukraine Appeal

Message from Ukrainian Appeal Organiser

We would like to express our thanks to Holy Family Church and School, Holly Redeemer Church, St Joseph's and St Ethelbert's Schools and to all individuals who donated to our Ukrainian appeal.  And additional thanks go to all those who then gave time / facilities, and no small amount of physical effort, to sort and pack everything. You were all brilliant!

After a short delay, we were able to tap into the combined good offices of The Polish Church in Slough and the United Reform Church in Maidenhead and can confirm a lorry has now picked up your donations stored at Iver and then went on to Maidenhead to collect donations from the United Reform Church.

You will see from these photos. They are an impressive sight!

The donations are initially going to a children's refugee centre in Jaroslaw close to the Polish/Ukrainian border. They will then send supplies to internally displaced people in Ukraine as well as directly into the war zones.

I have spoken to two people (one of them today's driver, the other a lady at the Polish Church) who have visited the refugee centre in Jaroslaw. Some of the children are newly orphaned, some have become separated from their families, either way, what they described is a tragedy of 'off-the-scale' proportions. Everything which you have contributed will bring much needed relief - THANK YOU!!

Maidenhead United Reform Church are continuing to collect donations.  Their next truck will go out in two weeks time. Food is now a particular focus should you wish to continue giving - please see their Facebook page  https://www.facebook.com/maidenheadurc/.
