Anointing of the Sick

The Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick is given to those who are seriously ill, injured, advanced in age, or in danger of death. Through this sacrament, God grants spiritual healing and, when it is His will, bodily healing as well.
It is administered by a priest, who lays hands upon the sick person and anoints them with blessed oil, praying for strength, peace, and the forgiveness of sins.
This holy Sacrament gives grace to endure suffering with faith, fortifies the soul against temptation, and restores spiritual strength in times of weakness.
Its effects are to comfort, strengthen, and uplift the soul in the mercy of Christ.
